E Stim Wound Healing

Filter

Electrical stimulation (E Stim) for wound healing is a clinically supported adjunctive therapy used to promote and accelerate tissue repair in chronic and complex wounds. By delivering a controlled electrical current to the wound bed and surrounding tissue, E Stim helps mimic the body’s natural bioelectric activity, which plays an important role in cellular migration, circulation, and tissue regeneration.

When applied appropriately, E Stim has been shown to support wound healing by:

    • Enhancing local blood flow and oxygenation
    • Stimulating cellular activity and protein synthesis
    • Promoting granulation tissue formation
    • Assisting in the reduction of edema and bioburden
    • Supporting closure of stalled or difficult-to-heal wounds

Multiple peer-reviewed studies and clinical trials demonstrate improved healing outcomes and reduced healing times when electrical stimulation is incorporated into a comprehensive wound care plan. For many patients with chronic or non-healing wounds, E Stim can be a valuable adjunct when standard care alone is not producing optimal progress.

E Stim protocols are non-invasive and can be integrated into existing wound care practices with appropriate training and patient assessment. Treatment parameters and dressing compatibility are important considerations and should always be selected based on wound presentation and clinical goals.

At McNiece TENS, we have worked alongside wound nurses, clinics, and community care teams for many years, supporting the integration of E Stim into everyday wound care practice. Through education, in-services, and clinical collaboration, we have seen firsthand how electrical stimulation can help move stalled wounds toward healing when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

While this adjunctive therapy is still new to many medical practices across Canada, it is well supported by clinical studies and established treatment protocols. Our goal is to provide nurses and qualified healthcare professionals with the tools, education, and recommended products needed to confidently incorporate E-Stim as a positive adjunctive therapy in wound care.

McNiece TENS remains committed to supporting clinicians through education, product guidance, and ongoing clinical support to ensure confidence and success with this therapy.
